As many Coaster's know, we are the non-profit, volunteer-run organization that has been operating the Chapman Creek Hatchery here on the Coast since 1992. With a very frugal budget we continue our dedication to restoring and sustaining Salmonid populations on the Coast.
The Chapman Creek Hatchery is mostly (90%) funded by memberships from individuals, sponsorship by many coastal small businesses and corporations doing business in the Sunshine Coast region. We receive a combination of small grants from the Municipal Government of Gibsons, the District of Sechelt, and the Sunshine Coast Regional District. We also receive help, guidance and funding from Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO).
Remember, by working together we will be able to continue to release fish into the wild - which, of course, helps us all. It's all about the fish.
