Every Father's Day, Family Fishing Day is sponsored by the Sunshine Coast Salmonid Enhancement Society in conjunction with the Provincial government and held at Trout Lake.
We apologize for any inconvenience, however for Father's Day 2011, SCSES will be unable to sponsor this event. We look forward to fully participating in 2012.
The event is always very well attended. Hot dogs and juice are available by donation and fishing rods and all necessary equipment are supplied. Experienced fishermen such as Harold Foster and Gordon Gray are there to help the novices who attended. There are also prize draws for rods and boxes of lures to add to the excitement.
Last year's participants, Young Keelan and Conner tried out their fishing gear at Trout Lake during Family Fishing Day in June. Funds to support the stocking of Cutthroat trout at 4 Sunshine Coast lakes were provided by the RBC Bluewater Community Action Grant. Select this link to see which lakes on the Sunshine Coast are stocked with trout.
Conservation Officers, Dean Miller & Murray Smith attend to swear in Junior Conservation Officers, distribute pamphlets and talk about their work in the community.
People fish from small boats and the shore with the new fishing platform being a very popular spot to try for trout. This provides excellent wheel chair access, as well.
Thanks to Teresa at Trail Bay Source for Sports, Canadian Tire, Rent It Canada & Dave at Wilson Creek Shell for their donations to this event.
